Steeks

We have them.
Steekage has begun.

Photobucket

I was feeling all confident yesterday thinking that “hey, I’m at the armholes now, the v-neck steek is set, I can just do gradual decreases now and every row will go faster, this will be a piece of cake to be done by April 2.” And then another voice reminded me, “but you still have to do the sleeves, dumbass.”

Hm. This may be too much of a challenge to get done in 3 weeks. Will that stop me from trying? No. I’ll just maybe start laying in some small sweater-recovery projects now… ;)

OK, let me tell you that cutting the steeks was actually kind of fun. Just make sure you do it with other people around, because it really freaks them out. If you want to see photos of mine being cut, just go to the Dec 28, 2007 entry.

Oh, and you shouldn’t call yourself a dumbass. That’s not nice!!?!!

RIGHT! I agree with mariajhmom, you are GREAT and we are your bloggy fans, and whenever I want to scare myself (no tv here) I think about your violent steek video on YouTube. brrrrrrrrr, shudder.

  9. I just got a rush of adrenaline looking at those steeks. I think it was fear masked as excitement. It’s going to be gorgeous.

Can’t type. My hands are all sweaty because there are steeks coming in the future and it’s knitting and fair isle and cutting and…oooh.

  12. I love the colors you picked for the sweater. They are so much better than the original colors in the magazine. You have inspired me to want to knit the Venezia:-) You have a great blog and I enjoy reading it every week.

  13. Yay steekage champ

  14. I still get goosebumps when I see people doing steeks. I can almost hear the scissors snipping away at the yarn!

It’s going to be beautiful though. *sigh* I’m going to be brave enough and try steeks. One day.
