Meek Urban Canadians

Well sure, it’s darned cold this week, but lest we forget that it was 10 years ago this week that the City of Toronto embarrassed itself by calling in the military to help clear snow? (Okay so it was a lot of snow…still, we are still living that down to the rest of Canada…)

  1. Well, I’m originally from Buffalo, another place with a lot of snow and many a time we’ve had to borrow your big snow melting/drain into the sewers machine. You’d think we’d just get our act together but no….. thank goodness for the kindness of neighbors!

  2. That was funny . I remember it well. I was in Toronto at the time for a conference. Many days, though, I bet my hubby wishes the military – or anyone for that matter – would come and clear our Lexus-Free laneway.

I grew up in a beach town. The second the ground started looking light green instead of dark green, school was canceled, roads closed, milk no longer in the grocery store.

  4. That is soooo funny! Thanks for sharing it! :- )

  5. hahahahaha
I remember that. It was ridiculous.

  6. Heh…I remember that too, I was living in London ON at the time. I distinctly remember staying home from school because of the weather.
Some days, though, I wish the city of Montreal would call the army or someone to help remove the snow – it took them forever to plow our street after the last big snowfall.

  7. Question: Did the city ever have to PAY the army for that snow removal? If not, it’s actually kinda brilliant! ;)
