The fun part of a jag

I’m at that glorious knitting stage of getting to start a couple of new projects all at once. Savouring the starting point is often what gets me through the finishing stage of the previous projects – and from prematurely casting on for something that really, will only delay the other finishing even longer. And as it happens, these projects also have something in common.

July6-RedYarns

I’ve had this sweater and these socks on the design list for a couple of months, and it just so happens that they reached the starting line at the same time. I don’t mind, though. A colour jag is a pretty awesome way to go if the colours are that awesome. (Tanis Fiber Arts DK in Garnet, Indigodragonfly MCN sock in “The exact phrase I used was “Don’t.”) But then, yesterday I was pulling out a few skeins of yarn to get ready to start some new walking-around socks to get going for Saturday at the TTC Knitalong, and lo and behold.

ALL YOUR RED YARNS ARE BELONG TO US.

(Well, OK, maybe not all of them. But some of them.)

Happy knitting today! Red or otherwise.

  1. Awesome! I’ve noticed that when I buy a skein of sock yarn here or there without a particular project in mind, I end up with the same green/blue variegated yarn. I have to consciously choose something else lest all I have are blue and green socks.

  2. I especially love the one in the back!

It happens to me too, a few months back everything I was knitting was green! I do find knitting can be colour therapy sometimes. I’ll decide what I knit next by what colour I like best at that moment!

Oooohhh…are you designing socks for Inara??

    Inquiring minds want to know.

  5. I hear you! My yarn collection will forever be full of earth-tones. Gorgeous skeins you have there :)

  6. Red is my very favorite color. I can’t wait to see what you come up with!!

  7. Beautiful colors, can’t wait to see your finished projects!

I definitely find that I trend toward the blues and purples, although I think orange and red will start to make appearances, as I’ve let my husband start picking out his own sock yarn.

  9. All I can say is Yummy!

And the rest of the world’s red yarn is residing in my stash. I can’t help it — I just know what I like. ;)

  11. You are in great danger of getting a startitis :-)
The yarn is beautiful, I like red and started to wonder why I don’t knit anything red…

  12. haha, you’re a redhog! like a hedgehog, only with red yarnz.

  13. I do that too…prematurley start casting on for a new project that delays the last one being finished :) That;s why I end up with some still in the cupboard unfinished…I need to get them all finished I think before starting ANYTHING new!

  14. Mmmmmmmmmmm red!
The yarn in the top photo looks a lot like some DIC Smooshy I have :-)
