Accessories
Midnight Mittens
Are your current winter mittens lacking that growling, howling at the moon sort of quality? Worry no more. A simple textured pattern brings these mittens to life, whether you choose to knit them in a dark, midnight-appropriate colour as these, or a shade more reminiscent of daylight. Worked in Aran-weight yarn in one size to fit most women or men, these mittens may be easily altered in size by changing the needle size. (One of three patterns in the ‘Buffy-the-Vampire-inspired Collection’ of gloves and mittens)

Gothic Gloves
This simple glove pattern is just the thing for cool hands that need a little extra elegance. Twisted ribbing is carried forward onto the back of the hand, eventually diminishing into a gothic peak, for a touch of vampire-inspired style. Work this pattern in one of two versions: DK-weight for a bit of extra warmth, or in fingering-weight for lighter days. Both versions come in two sizes. Nightblooming Mittens
Whether you’re a science and tech geek who happens to cast spells in her spare time, or just someone looking for a bit more challenge in your knitting life, these light mittens are here for you. A repeating leafy cabled pattern blooms gently along your hands, adding both beauty and warmth to your cool days. Written in two sizes, pattern modifications are also suggested for working these as fingerless mitts for those in-between seasons. Nouveau
These delicate gloves are inspired by the crisp, architectural motifs of Art Deco, as well as the organic, fluid lines of Art Nouveau. They offer a fitted, stylish selection for your basket of cool-weather accessories or knitted gifts. The pattern uses Tanis Fiber Arts Yellow Label DK, or yarn of a similar weight, and comfortably fits hand circumference between 7-8 inches around. Size may easily be adjusted by adjusting gauge.
Socks
Staked
Life’s rough when you’re a vampire slayer. One minute you’re falling in love or contemplating your destiny…the next minute you’re stalking off into the shadows and figuring out how to wash vampire dust out of your clothes. With a day job like that, you’d better at least be heading out in style. These socks have you covered: stabby, stake-through-the-heart cables extending from the leg and onto the foot, eventually diminishing and disappearing altogether, with only darkness and plain stockinette left behind. Stake, or be staked. It’s all in a day’s work. These socks feature Indigodragonfly Merino Sock (fingering weight sock yarn), and are worked from the cuff down.

Revival
My pattern entry in the Spring 2010 Socks Revived contest, this is a sock pattern that makes versatile use of twisted-stitch cables and semi-solid dyed yarn. Once you get the hang of the chart, the rows will just fly by, reviving your love of hand-knitted socks as you knit. Size is adjustable by adjusting gauge – using stockinette gauge of 34 sts/4 inches on 2.75mm needles, sock will comfortably fit foot 8-9 ins in circumference.
Neptune High
Inspired by the stylish high school private detective moves of the title character in television’s Veronica Mars, this is a 2-colour mini-argyle sock worked in the round, in both a knee-high version and a shorter mid-calf version. Use your favourite 2 contrasting shades of fingering weight sock yarn and prepare for some pretty bad-ass argyle moves of your own. Sizing instructions include upper calf circumference of 13-18 ins for knee-high version.
Viper Pilots
Inspired by Starbuck and Apollo’s death-defying skills on Battlestar Galactica, this sock pattern will provide challenge and style. An arrow cable flanked by two maelstrom-like cables on either side evoke the violent and beautiful complexities of space. This pattern is also available in hard copy from The Purple Purl, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
14 Karat
These socks are designed with that special semi-solid sock yarn in mind. Grab one of those skeins that have been hiding in your stash and you’ll find yourself with a beautiful, delicate, and elegant pair of socks that is completely deserving of the 14-Karat treatment. This pattern is also available in hard copy from The Purple Purl, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
Sweaters
Royale
Combining both elegance and comfort, this is a twisted-stitch pullover that is absolutely sure to turn heads. Bring your cabling-without-a-cable-needle skills for faster work! Worked with Tanis Fiber Arts Green Label Aran, or yarn of a similar weight. Sizes XS(S, M, L, XL, 2XL) will produce garment bust size of 30(33, 37, 41, 45, 49) inches around.
Rendezvous
This is a cardigan jacket designed for comfort and versatility. Worked with Tanis Fiber Arts Green Label Aran, or yarn of a similar weight. Sizes S(M, L, XL, 2XL, 3XL) will produce a finished bust size of 35(38, 41, 44, 47, 50) inches around, with (4) buttons fastened.
The following patterns are currently available exclusively through The Sweet Sheep:
Azalea Mitts
In those transitional seasons of the year, don’t cover your hands with just any mitts. Treat yourself to some delicate, floral-inspired cables with this versatile pattern. The Azalea mitts are offered in two variations – one is a simple fingerless mitt which leaves your fingers and thumb free, and the second is worked with a full mitten top which can be flipped out of the way to reveal cropped fingers. Choose one version or the other, depending on how much chill you want to keep away! Pattern uses 1 skein of Sweet Socks Tight Twist sock yarn, and is available for purchase here (may also be purchased as a kit).
Wicked/Yellow Brick Road (knee socks)
Which path would you like to knit yourself to today? The sunny skies of Dorothy and her companions on the Yellow Brick Road, or the tempting but shadowy halls of the Wicked Witch of the West? Whichever one you choose, prepare to knit your way though the most fun pair of socks you’ll ever own. These pattern instructions will help guide you to a well -fitting pair of knee-high stockings that will make sure you get noticed – no matter what path you ’re on. Sizing instructions included to fit upper leg circumference between 13-17 inches around.

Glenna,
I am knitting your Revival socks at this time, but I seem to be having problems getting the twisted stitches to balance. The left twisted stitches look straight and crisp, but the right twisted stitches look uneven and “wonky.” Do you have any hints to correct this difference?
Looking at your stuff, I’m not very good. My self esteem level after 3 projects has plunged considerably. Back to work on my shawl that started out as a scarf.

Where do I find the pattern for your Highness socks, pretty please?
Oh, thanks for asking! It’s not released yet but it will be soon! This month for sure.

Oh boy! I am equal parts inspired and dismayed. I thought, “Sure, I can knit!” Now I’m not so sure. Thanks for the blog inspiration! I’m just starting mine and will definitely add you to my blogroll

Glenna,I must admit, at present, most of your patterns seem far beyond my depth, but they are so beautiful they give me something to aspire to.
